SACCSS Code of Behaviour – Players

Member schools and individuals, representing member schools are required to comply with the Code of Behaviour and Responsibilities during any activity sanctioned by SACCSS. 

General

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
• Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealing with others.
• Be responsible for your actions.
• Refrain from any behaviour that may bring SACCSS or a member school into disrepute.
• Show concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured.
• Be a positive role model.

Anti-Racism Code for Players and Player Support Personnel

• SACCSS does not tolerate engaging in any conduct (whether through the use of language, gestures, actions or otherwise) which is likely to offend, insult, humiliate, intimidate, threaten, disparage or vilify any reasonable person in the position of a Player, Player Support Personnel, or any other person (including spectators) on the basis of their race, religion, culture, colour, descent, national or ethnic origin.

Note:     Any person who has reason to believe that an offense has been made under this Anti-Racism Code is asked to record all details of such incidents via a SACCSS Incidents Report and send a copy to the Executive Officers via their Sports Coordinator within 24 hrs of the incident. The Executive Officers will seek the support of SACCSS Executive when dealing with matters of this nature.

Players Code

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of fellow players, coaches, officials and spectators, demonstrating the highest standard of sportsmanship.
• Respect the talent, potential and development of fellow players and competitors. Excessive congratulations of one’s team mates during the game are to be avoided.
• Verbal and physical harassment of opposing players is not permitted. Use of appropriate and respectful language is expected at all times.
• All team members should wear a correct team uniform.
• Abide by the rules and respect the decision of the official, no arguing, or rudeness towards the umpire or referee will be tolerated.
• Players may not enter into unnecessary dialogue with spectators.
• Players can be ejected from the playing field for any serious offence (including: deliberately causing injury to opposition, racial abuse, repeatedly disputing decisions, audible swearing directed at players or umpires).  All players sent off must serve a mandatory penalty of 15 mins and may not be replaced during that time. Serious incidents will result in individuals not being involved further in any part of the day. Players MUST NOT participate in the next fixtured match, this applied to all sports and competitions, including red cards offences.
• A whole team melee (as deemed serious by the umpire/convener) will result in the teams involved being removed from further participation in the day and the team will be required to leave the venue.
